I don't know about you, but I like to get organised early before Christmas. I'm planning to do some posts on this over the coming weeks/months. But the start of my Christmas shopping organisation always starts with attending the first of a Boots Christmas Shopping Evening at the end of October. The beauty of these evenings is you get 1200 Advantage Card points on top of any normal points gained for every £50 spent. That is really a good deal! Three evenings are usually held from October to the end of November and you can get the deal at every evening.
I always attend in person (although I think you can do it online as well), as I've often found extra points are available from the Advantage Card kiosk for stuff I'd be buying anyway, and I've had till spits offering me an additional 500 points if I attend the following event. The year before last, I managed to rack up about £65 worth of points, which I saved to get me through the dark days of January and February - bargain!
Boots normally send Advantage Card holders an email, which I've not had yet. However, after a little Googling, I've discovered that the first Christmas Shopping Evenings are on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th October. For my fellow Bristolian people, they will be held on the Thursday night from 3pm at Boots stores at The Mall, Broadmead, Avon Meads and Emersons Green (I'm always annoyed that they don't do it at the Eastgate Centre). I'll probably be going to The Mall as it's easiest to get to for me, but I recomend going to Avon Meads if you can, as it's a lot less of a scrum and I've had a goodie bag from there before. Apart from Broadmead, all have free parking. Last year, I was in Bath at the Eastgate Centre for one night, but I ended up not buying anything, as they didn't have a good range of Christmas gifts. I ordered online when I got home. For anyone else around the UK, just type in your post code here to find your nearest store.
I basically get all my presents for my sisters, my sisters in law, my mother in law and step mother in law, my secretary and my girlie friends at these nights, as Boots are running their 3 for 2 Christmas gift offer throughout these evenings. I split my buying so I have 3 lots of £50 (I take a calculator with me to do rough calculations) to maximise the points on offer. However, if you spent £150 on one night, you would still get 36000 points, you just wouldn't benefit from extra points from till spits etc. It's also a good night for stocking up on any basics, or spluring, as you can easily get to £50. However, I'm not doing that this year - I'm being good!
So that's a date for my diary, with 2 more evenings to come soon.
Thanks for reading. xx
