If you regularly follow my blog, you will know I'm going to 4 weddings this year! 2 down so far, only 2 more to go! One coming up is my sister's wedding, so I want to get the styling right, as the photos are likely to be sat on my Mum's shelf for years to come...
I've bought a dress from Phase 8 and it was very expensive. I do like it, but I'm not 100% sure about it. I might need to try it on again, or carry on looking to see if I find a dress I like better.
Anyway I've had an attempt at styling the dress - really only to get ideas for jewellery that would match, as well as shoes, accesories and makeup colours etc. If anyone had any other suggestions as to what would work with this dress, please help me!!! I find styling outfits, especially formal outfits soo difficult! I'm relying on you ladies to work your magic...
Dress - Phase 8
Shoes - Nine West
Jewellery - Dorothy Perkins, Next, Warehouse
Scarf - Vintage (my Granny's)
Nail Polish - OPI
Eyeshadows - Accessorize and Mac
Eye pencils - Eyeko and Avon
Hair Feathers - Independent shop
Cat - blogger's own
Thanks ladies - all your help is much appreciated! xx

A Big Haul Part 1 - Fashion
Well I fell off the wagon on my beauty diet big time. Not only did I buy beauty products, but I bought lots of new clothes as well, thinking of the festival I'm going to in a few weeks time. Debenhams had a 20% offer on this weekend, so I took advantage of it, as all the concessions were also on offer. This post is about the clothes I bought, I'm sorry about the terrible quality photos - I just can't get good pictures of my clothes!
First of all I got these corduroy Red Herring leggings/jeggings, which cost £14 after discount. They're definitely leggings which look much better on than on the hanger. I can see me wearing them all through the winter, as they're warm and snuggly. And best of all - they're a size 12 and they fit perfectly!!!
I'm not normally one for animal prints, but I saw this Oasis tunic/dress and knew it was for me. It's a lovely jersey material and not too over the top. It's also camel, and as you know, I'm loving the camel trend this season. It's perfect for a winter festival - warm and snuggly, but rock chick as well! I'm also going to wear this around Christmas - it's just a little bit festive! It was £40 with the 20% discount.
I loved this dress/tunic from Dorothy Perkins, with an unusual print, and a muted greige/ gruple colour. I know I've got loads of nail polish that will go with it! At £32 before the discount, it was a steal, and it will work in the summer as well. Definitely one of my festival tops.
I spotted this top at Oasis which is basically a standard grey jumper, but with a detachable snood! It was quite pricy, but I love it!
I've been looking for some new cardies for work, as I'm so bored with the ones I have at the moment. This jewel green cardie with black lace detailing is lovely and quite unusual. This was on offer at £25 from Oasis (£10 off), and had another £5 off with the discount.
This printed cardie was £20 from Oasis. I thought it had a lovely pattern and I'm looking forward to wearing it to work!
If you've not seen it, don't forget to check out my Christmas Party Giveaway here. I've got together all the essentials for you to shimmer and shine at party time!

Bristol Fashion Week
With all the excitement over London Fashion Week, I've been trying to join in, by attending a fashion show at Bristol Fashion Week. Christopher Kane, Matthew Williamson, Mulberry, Vivienne Westwood at London Fashion Week in exciting venues, verses a tent in the car park of The Mall, Cribbs Causeway in Bristol and a fashion show sponsored by M&S and John Lewis. It doesn't really compare in terms of glamour and excitement does it? But I found it a really good night out and got loads of ideas and fashion lusts for Autumn Winter 2010/2011, and most of the clothes were affordable and available now and I've already ordered a few bits having seen them on the catwalk.
The fashion show contained outfits predominantly from M & S and John Lewis, as well as clothes from Dorothy Perkins, Animal, Jane Norman, River Island, La Senza, East, J D Sports, Karen Millen and Jigsaw. It was a long show, more than an hour long, and hosted by Andrew Barton and Mark Heyes who made it entertaining and imparted some of their top fashion and hair tips for the new season.
The problem was, photography was prohibited, so I wasn't able to take any snaps of the clothes. There was a running order of the different collections, but no catalogue showcasing the clothes and looks and prices etc. I think that this would have been a great feature, as there were loads of things I wanted, but I've had to rely on my memory, especially as my pen ran out, so I couldn't even make any notes!
The highlight for me was the gothic/vampire inspired collection from Dorothy Perkins. I've ordered a skirt and a dress that were showcased already!
There was a lovely purple evening dress from M & S with a black band under the bust, with drapes of material cascading down from it, and hiding any tummy bulge. This was worn by a larger model and it looked gorgeous on her. Unfortunately, it's not yet released, so I can't show you a picture of it from the website, but it's definitely a winner for the Christmas party season.
There was a great dress and jacket from the brand Damsel in a Dress from John Lewis. It is a tweed material with a golden silk sheen to it. I'm not sure if it would suit me, being a larger busted girl, but it looked stunning on the model.
I loved the Karen Millen collection which included camel dresses and polo necks, with very interesting cuts and a slightly preppy/70s vibe. I love the camel trend, it really makes a change from black, especially as I have a little white cat, so I spend my life cleaning my black clothes of white cat hairs! They definitely won't show up against camel!
One of the collections showcased the new range of bags and shoes from Radley. I wasn't taken with the shows which were multi-coloured and quite clumpy - not really my style. However, I did love the bags which included 70s style patterns, a move away from those cutesy dog motifs.
I was surpised that I loved the J D Sports collection. It was all greys, hot pinks and vivid purples, and I've come away lusting a purple Adidas Hoodie, which I didn't expect to!
The major trends to emerge were:
The tickets cost £8, and I though that was a fair price as the seats gave a really good view. There was also a goodie bag for everyone which was stuffied with booty - definitely worth more than £8 alone.
All in all, it was a good night out, and I liked the fact it was accessible and affordable fashion, most of which could be ordered straight away. However, it was a shame that there wasn't a catalogue of the prices.
I've ordered a lot of clothes for the new season after going to the fashion show (as I couldn't face hitting the shops this weekend), so I'm looking forward to showing you all when they arrive!

Haul-tastic (lots of photos)
One of the best things about my job is that I get to visit lots of town centres across the country to look at shops. And of course, this gives me the opportunity to pop into the shops. Today, I spent my lunch break wizzing round a town in South Wales and managed to get quite a good haul, including some sale bargains.
First up, this fab dress from Dorothy Perkins, which comes with a black belt. I love it, it's classic but fun! It cost £40, which I think is reasonable for a dress this great!
Secondly, I got this grey, jacket made from jersey fabric from H & M. It cost £24.99, which I think is pretty good for a versatile jacket. I can definitely wear it to work or dress it down with skinny jeans.
I saw this faux leather, biker style jacket in H & M for a bargainous £34.99 and I had to have it! I'm sorry I couldn't get it photograph properly.
I thought I'd wear the dress and faux-leather jacket together for my best friend's baby shower this weekend to give the girly dress an edgier look. I'll probably dress it up with pearls. What do you think?
I also got three pairs of shoes from the sale at Topshop - flats with an ankle strap, mid-heels with a peep toe and some small booties. It cost less than £50 for all three.
I also picked up some bargain jewellery. A set of 6 bracelets cost £6 at Dotty Ps. I'm not sure I like the earrings that much now - but they were £2 and £1 each at Topshop, so I'm not that bothered...
Finally, I picked up a Hello Kitty palette and lip balms at M & S - one of the lip balms and the palette are a present for my sister, so I haven't opened them.
The palette has lip and eye colours, and quite a nice range of shades - not bad for £7.50. The lip balms were £2 each, but I don't think they're very good. They are bright pink, and have a synthetic, sweet, fruity taste which is horrible! I won't be buying them again!
Well, I'm all hauled out for the moment - I think I'd better keep my wallet shut until after next payday!
